Why We Built Zaverni
We're pet people first. And like a lot of pet people, we bought the "smart" gear — the WiFi feeder, the connected litter box, the tracker on the collar. For a while it felt futuristic. Then it didn't.
The feeder went quiet during a cloud outage and our cat missed dinner. The litter box wanted a monthly fee to show us a year of health history it had already collected. The tracker's battery died on the one afternoon that mattered. None of it was catastrophic. All of it was avoidable. And all of it pointed at the same gap: pet tech had gotten clever faster than it got dependable.
So we started Zaverni.
Three principles we refuse to compromise
1. Reliability first — it has to work when the wifi doesn't. A feeder's only job is to feed your pet. A tracker's only job is to help you find them. We design around the failure, not the demo: schedules stored locally with battery backup, sensors with redundancy, materials built to last years instead of months. If a feature needs the cloud to function at its core, we don't ship it that way.
2. No leash of subscription. You bought the hardware. Your pet's feeding schedule, weight trend, and location history are *your* data. We don't lock core functions or your own information behind a recurring paywall. Connectivity is a bonus you can ignore — never a toll you must pay.
3. Built for real homes. Real homes have two cats of different sizes, a dog that sheds on everything, a rental where you can't bolt things to the wall, and a sense of style you'd like not to sacrifice. Our four lines — Feed, Track, Clean, and Monitor — are designed for that messiness, and to look like they belong in your living room, not a vet's waiting room.
What we're launching
- Feed — an offline-first smart feeder that keeps dispensing even when the internet doesn't.
- Track — a lightweight GPS collar with real-time location and no forced monthly plan.
- Clean — a safety-first self-cleaning litter box with local data and free export.
- Monitor — a calm, clear pet camera built for separation anxiety, not surveillance theater.
Why now
Pet tech spending keeps climbing, but trust keeps eroding — owners are openly tired of outages, lock-in, and gear that breaks inside a year. We think the next brand wins not by adding features, but by removing the reasons people stopped believing. That's the brand we're building.
What to do next
We're not on shelves yet, and we'd rather earn your trust before we ask for your cart. Join the waitlist to get early access, our pre-launch buyer's checklists, and the straight story as we ship each line.
No inflated promises. No fabricated charity numbers. Just better-built gear, and the receipts to prove it.
